Synopsis

Part of the PBS series American Masters, this documentary investigates the life, work, and attempted murder of Andy Warhol. With access to archival materials at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh - paintings, drawings, films, footage of art installations and musical performances - the filmmaker reconsiders Warhol's aesthetics in relation to his fascination with fame, celebrity, and American culture. "An entirely absorbing, occasionally revelatory portrait of a brilliant talent driven to greatness by an inner chorus of demons and angels" (Stephen Holden, The New York Times). Ric Burns---USA---2006---240 mins.
