Loved this movie. Amazing camera shots, slow moving but totally engrossing. An anti-war movie without the war, without the exaggeration.

What lifts this one to honest to damn classic territory is the B&W photography, which is some of the best I've ever seen. Come for the celebration of human frailty; stay for the trains hurtling implacably through snow.

It is hard to believe that the tragic and shocking ending happens in the midst of an absurd farce, but it does so very effectively. This is a very humane movie.
