Synopsis

Through archival film footage, African American war veterans from all military branches recount their personal experiences to bring their true stories to life, including: Tuskegee Airmen; Women at War; Red Ball Express; 92nd ("Buffalo Soldiers") Infantry Division; 761st ("Black Panthers") Tank Battalion; Triple Nickels; 6888 Postal Battalion, and more. Includes a tribute from General Colin Powell and comments from Bill Clinton. Also includes The Negro Soldier (1944), a U.S. Army training film produced by Frank Capra, depicting African American servicemen and featuring official War Department footage, archival newsreels, and captured enemy footage.
